End-of-Year

Well I know I haven’t written a post in such a long time, so I thought I should write one before the year ends. We have exams starting at the end of this week. We have one on Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Then we have no school on Thursday so our teachers can finish our report cards, and on Friday is the end-of-year assembly. I only have to write one exam (I think) because I got exempted from the other 3. Although we don’t find out of exemptions until tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I only have to write my LA exam.

This coming weekend is also Grad. My brother is graduating this year (:D) so I have to go to the pictures, the ceremony, the supper, and the social. Grad is pretty fun, and my friend Katie’s sister is also graduating so I will be with her for some time. Some of my family is coming in but not many of my cousins because they also have to write exams.

I am also having family coming in later, but not until after grad for their annual fishing trip that all my uncles go on every year. The girls all stay back and bake and watch movies and stuff like that. For the rest of my summer, I will probably be going out of town to my grandma’s and maybe Winnipeg, nowhere fancy. In the summer I usually tan outside, go swimming, tubing sometimes, that kind of stuff.

Well, this could be the last post of mine this year, so have a good summer and see you next year!

Nothing But The Truth

What is true? That can be a hard question. There are two ways to answer that. Yes, it’s true that Global Warming is going to kill the world soon, but there’s another way to answer it. It’s what you think is true in life.

Being truthful is the opposite of lieing. It’s being faithful to someone or something. I think that truth is hard to tell, definitely harder to tell than a lie. Like if you do something you shouldn’t have, and then you go home, what do you say to your parents? Well, if you lie, then its not as hard. But if they find out that you lied, you will suffer the consequences. But if you just tell the truth in the first place, maybe they’ll understand and you won’t get in as much trouble.

I also think that its true that life can be hard. But sometimes, and most of the time, you bring it upon yourself. Like for example, say you’re a bit late for something but you have something more important to do so you skip what you had to do in the first place. If you get in trouble for missing that, its only your fault and you will suffer the consequences.

Its also true that mistakes make you stronger. Mistakes shape you as a person. If your life is totally focused on being perfect, you won’t change as a person and you will stay on one level. You will never learn different than what you already know.

There are a lot of things that are also true. But things that are true in life are different, like how you think life should be, what you think make make you or break you, etc.

About Me, Again

Hi everyone,

We’ve been told that some new people are going to be looking at our blogs, so I’m gonna tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Sara. I’m 12 years old, almost 13, and in grade 7. I live in Snow Lake, MB, Canada. I go to JHK School. Snow Lake is a small town with one school. There’s basically one of everything, except houses restaurants, and small convenience/candy stores. There’s not much to do here, so me and my friends just usually hang out and walk around town and watch movies, that kind of stuff.

I don’t exactly have one hobby really, I play volleyball sometimes when there’s practices and games. I like to read lots. I’m also good in school, but I don’t really enjoy it, well no one really does.

Well, I’ve introduced myself, and I hope you do the same so we can all learn about you too.

This Week

This week of school has been pretty boring for me, and today is the day when I get nervous. On Monday and Tuesday, we presented our TEDTalks projects. It continues today, and today is my day. I was supposed to  go first, but then we didn’t have time to finish them all yesterday, so now Shyla is going ahead of me. It wouldn’t really matter to me if I went first anyways.

Other than the TEDTalks projects, we have been doing 2 sets of blogposts each week (it only started last week though). This week we have been looking at questions about us as teenagers. You can check out the questions here.

We just finished a math unit as well. We had a test yesterday. It was about surface area and volume.

Well, silent reading is about over, so I should sign off now. Bye!

This Week

Well, my past week has been waaay too boring for my liking. Although it kinda had to be. I have been grounded since Tuesday last week. On Friday I was allowed to go out for supper with my friend Logyn and then I went in the Adult Cordwood with my friends Logyn, Paige, and Ashley. We won 1 game and lost 2. I was the second, Paige was lead, Logyn was third, and Ashley was skip. I had to go home right after though.

On Saturday I had to babysit at 7 until about 2 in the morning. It was boring and I fell asleep for like a half  hour, but I got paid $35 bucks so I guess it wasn’t that bad.

This week should be okay because I think I’m ungrounded, but if I’m not I won’t be too happy. This week is also Spirit Week: today is bedhead and pajama day, tomorrow is decade day, Wednesday is inside-out and backwards day, Thursday is western day, and Friday is class colour day but we have no school.

Well, silent reading is pretty much over so I should probably sign off now. I’ll write again soon, maybe next week though. I feel like actually reading a book during silent reading time. Bye!

Parent-Teacher Interviews=Happy Students

As the title probably explains, parent teacher interviews (AKA 3-way conferences with the teacher, parent, and student but no one calls them that because hardly any student comes in) are coming up, which means almost an extra day off school (we got out at 1030) for everyone in grades K-8. We’re all pretty happy about it. Some kids in my class don’t even come to school on days like these, but I do because my mom makes me mostly :(

This time, I don’t know if I’m going to come to school because I’ve been feeling horrible all week, I think i have a stomach flu or something. I’ve also had bad headaches, so bad I could barely keep my eyes open in class.

So what else can I talk about? Oh yeah, we got our report cards yesterday. I’m doing pretty good in everything.

Next week we get Friday off because its Good Friday. I’m excited for that. So I can sleep in. I haven’t been getting very much sleep lately, but I don’t know why.

Well, silent reading time is almost over, so I should probably sign off now, bye.

Weekend

Today is Friday (yay), and I’m really looking forward to  it. Tonight, I might go to a bonfire on the lake with a bunch of people. I might not go though, and it might not even happen because it is freezing out! It supposed to warm up, but I doubt it.

the Ice Worm also starts today. It’s where you go to the Legion and get a clue every hour, and once you have a clue you try to figure out where the ice worm is hidden in the snow. Most kids have a good time looking for it. It’s a stuffed animal worm that you look for, but your prize is like $100 dollars worth of stuff.

I don’t know what I’m going to do on Saturday yet. On Sunday of this weekend is the Winter Whoot. There is little games that you win prizes/candy in (fish pond, cake walk, etc.). There is also a bouncy house, which is the main attraction. There is also a huge snack table.

Well, I’ve got other things I need to do in this time period, so I better go now. Bye.

Spring Break

Spring Break is coming soon! In about 3 weeks or so. We’re not exactly taking a ‘family trip’ because my brother and sister are going to Europe for a school trip. My mom wanted to be a shaperone (if that’s how you spell it), but she didn’t get chosen. So I’m really not sure what I’m doing. My parents might go on a trip back to the Dominican Republic. Of course, the second time around they can’t take their daughter. I wish I could go, but I know I won’t. If they do go or not, I have an opportunity to go the the Brandon Winter Fair with my uncle. I’d much rather be in the Dominican, but the Fair is pretty fun too.

Today we get out early (at 2:20 like every other first Wednesday of the month), so I don’t really know what I’m going to do. We have a sub, so there’s a good chance that we’ll have homework. Mr. Fisher usually just tells the sub to give whatever we did during our class period for homework.

Well, silent reading time is over, so I better go. Let’s see how long this one lasts!

Egypt is Out

So for the past while, maybe two weeks, we have been working on an Egypt project in Social Studies on a topic of our choice. First we had to do a one-page essay about our topic, then we had to do a big project also about our topic.

Some of the projects were really cool. There were board games, paper machae models, and some people even brought in Egyptian food that they made. There were many more cool projects brought in. Someone even made their own paper!

The project that I brought in was about education. I drew hieroglyphics on a piece of paper that I made look old my rubbing my pencil to make it look smudged,  and I burnt the edges. Before I drew on it, I dipped the paper in green tea ad let it dry overnight. I thought it looked pretty good, but I didn’t get a very good mark. Oh well. Everyone else did pretty good.

I liked this project because it was fun to do. I hope we do things like this more often because its a little bit of work with the essay, but its fun with the project.

Science Fair

Well, I don’t know why I’ve never talked about it before, but the science fair is coming very soon! Well, I guess you could say that it’s already here. Today is Wednesday, and today we are going to the gym to set up our projects. Tomorrow we are being judged on them. Let me tell you a little about my project…

My project is called Stain Away. My partner is Logyn. We are trying to figure out which carpet stain remover works best on coffee, cranberry juice, and soy sauce stains. Do you think we will win? I will update you on who won what probably on Friday.

Funny story, this project actually will help me in daily life. It already has. Here’s the funny part: yesterday, my dog Lucy Rae got into a small bottle of chocolate milk that my brother left on the table and she made a stain on the carpet. I yelled at my brother to get the carpet cleaner and he said which one? So I thought quickly an said Spot Shot! It works best!

Well, silent reading time is just about over, so I better go now. I’ll update you on the science fair on hopefully Friday, maybe Monday.
