This is a photostory created by my partner Blaise and I about what it means to be Canadian.

The Six50 hybrid car is a car designed by the Swiss company Mindset AG. It’s the latest in hybrid cars, with a solar panel on the top of it. Combining solar panels with fuel-efficient vehicles aren’t really efficient enough to give much power to a car. They also don’t have any effect on how fuel-efficient the car is.

Although the car is still a work in progress, around 10 000 of these are supposed to come out next year, each costing about $78 000 bucks.

I think this new hybrid car is pretty stupid. Since it’s not giving your car much power from the solar panel, why spend so much money on it when you could just buy a regular hybrid vehicle? In my eyes if I were looking to buy a hybrid car I would rather pay less and get something that won’t be useless to me. Why would I want a car that has a big solar panel on top of it, along with a bigger price tag, just for a little bit more power when I barely need it?

So the newest in hybrid vehicles isn’t really the best car I’ve seen. Sure it seems like a good idea, but its not really a good idea if it doesn’t benefit the environment, because that’s the whole point of a hybrid car.

A dental therapist from Oral Health Dental Care visited Nata Village recently to make sure the village was taking care of their teeth and gums. He provided cleanings, fillings, and extractions to over thirty patients. The staff will continue to help villages like Nata. This service is provided by the Department of Public Health. Its free for the whole community.

This is a good project because it makes sure everyone who cannot afford it has good dental care. Its important because now everyone will have healthy teeth and they can have a better life, not only for Nata Village but all the other small poor places that can’t afford dental care either.

I think that it was a good, nice idea that the dental therapist chose to give up his time to help a small village that can’t afford to have their teeth cleaned, etc.

 Copyright is a law that tells us that we have to respect artists’ rights and their work. Its like plagiarism, just on the web. Its not very old at all, actually it is kind of a newer internet law. It is important because other people can claim the artists’ work as their own and take all the credit for it, and they could get money from it. Its also important because if you make a good piece of work, you should be able to share that with the world, but not handing it out for the public to use. You can copyright things like music, books, movies, art, sculptures, brands, recipes, and more.

Without copyright laws, anyone and everyone could claim someone else’s work as their own. The real artist would lose all credit to their piece, whatever it may be, and they would no longer make money off it. The person who claimed it would possibly get money for it and they would also have the credit of a good piece of work.

Public domain means we are allowed to use something that someone else created after their death plus another seventy years! Another thing that kind of relates to the public domain is fair use. The fair use of someone else’s work is using ten seconds of it for a specific use, like a parody or if you want a small clip of a song for example for a video.

Probably one of the best things about copyright is that you get to decide if you want the public to use your work or not, and it does into detail. This is called Creative Commons. This is a license that you can put on your work that tells the public what they can use of it. You can put a license on it that tells the people they can use your work but for example they aren’t allowed to get money from it, or they have to give credit to the artist.

Copyright is one of the best things to protect the internet. It makes sure everyone’s work is always theirs, until they die +70 years. Without it, no one would rally know who’s work was who’s.

Well, today is our second day of school. I couldn’t write yesterday because we were busy helping out the grade seven’s set up their blogs. This year we have another split class, it is grade 7/8. Its my second year in the blogging class of the school, so all of us blogging veterans helped out the newbies get used to it.

My summer was actually pretty boring; all I did was go to Brandon for a shopping trip and to my grandma’s in Holland. Also this summer my brother moved off to Winnipeg because he is going to the University of Manitoba. I couldn’t go to move him in though, there wasn’t enough room to bring me and my sister so we stayed home while my parents and brother went away for a few days.

Well, I have other back-to-school things I need to do to this blog, so I better get started.
