Well, I don’t know why I’ve never talked about it before, but the science fair is coming very soon! Well, I guess you could say that it’s already here. Today is Wednesday, and today we are going to the gym to set up our projects. Tomorrow we are being judged on them. Let me tell you a little about my project…
My project is called Stain Away. My partner is Logyn. We are trying to figure out which carpet stain remover works best on coffee, cranberry juice, and soy sauce stains. Do you think we will win? I will update you on who won what probably on Friday.
Funny story, this project actually will help me in daily life. It already has. Here’s the funny part: yesterday, my dog Lucy Rae got into a small bottle of chocolate milk that my brother left on the table and she made a stain on the carpet. I yelled at my brother to get the carpet cleaner and he said which one? So I thought quickly an said Spot Shot! It works best!
Well, silent reading time is just about over, so I better go now. I’ll update you on the science fair on hopefully Friday, maybe Monday.
*smotto
Hi Sara,
I really like the theme change! I really like this post because it is long and talks about a lot of stuff. By the way: which stain remover worked the best?, why did you choose this project, what made you think of this project? Well I have to go.
Bye Brianna
Comment by briapple 02.28.08 @ 1:43 pmI think you guys did a pretty cool project and that your board looked pretty cool because that is also part of the judging. I think that was a goo idea because now if you are cleaning your carpet you know just what product will do the job. Why did you decide to do this project?
Comment by hnward 02.28.08 @ 1:46 pmHey There Sara, I like how you introduced your blog post bery proffesional! I like the way you get right into your facts in the second paragraph and i like how you teid real life experiances with your science experiment.I like your conclusion because your not all like BYEEEEEEEEEE! which most people do.
Comment by superdude21 02.28.08 @ 1:50 pmHello Sara,
I’m glad to see that the fruits of your labor paid off even before the fair! Would really like to hear how you did. Anyway, I don’t know if this is available in Snow Lake but maybe next year you could try out the Sanofi Aventis Biotech Challenge if you enjoy science fairs. This competition may seem very foreboding and tough BUT at the grade 7 or 8 level it is not that terribly involved (though it is a fair amount of work but believe me the awards dinner alone is worth it.). If you are interested don’t look at the descriptions of some of the projects as those are probably by the grade 12 geniuses (such as the guy that had the promising alternative to chemotherapy, he won the grade 12 competition for Canada and ended up with over 15000 dollars in prize money). That being said when my friend and I entered the first time we studied how two enzymes in your stomach and intestines break down protein (little did we know at the time that this has been thoroughly investigated). The next year we decided to study natural preservatives such as ascorbic and citric acid (basically lemon juice and vitamin A/C, I can’t remember). Anyway we had a blast and won both years so it is very possible. It is not possible to enter this year anymore, but if you or any other driven classmates want to participate I urge you to check it out.
Sincerely,
